{"id":8931,"date":"2019-08-21T16:41:25","date_gmt":"2019-08-21T16:41:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8931"},"modified":"2019-08-21T16:41:25","modified_gmt":"2019-08-21T16:41:25","slug":"drive-sober-national-road-safety-campaign-launches-across-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/drive-sober-national-road-safety-campaign-launches-across-us\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cDrive sober\u201d national road safety campaign launches across US"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tens of thousands of law enforcement officers across the United States are on heightened alert for impaired drivers as part of a country-wide traffic safety campaign.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration<\/a> (NHTSA) has joined forces with safety partners to launch the 2019 national impaired-driving high-visibility enforcement campaign which runs through to the Labor Day holiday weekend \u2013 one of the deadliest times on US roads.<\/p>\n<p>NHTSA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) have unveiled their alcohol- and drug-impaired driving messages, <em>Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over<\/em> and <em>If You Feel Different, You Drive Different \u2013 Drive High, Get a DUI<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>NHTSA and others have focused on educating marijuana users on the risks of driving high due to recent legalization efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlmost everyone knows that driving drunk is dangerous, puts lives at risk, and can get you a DUI \u2013 but there isn\u2019t the same awareness for drug-impaired driving,\u201d said NHTSA Deputy Administrator Heidi King.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt NHTSA, we are working hard to raise awareness among the driving public of the fact that driving impaired by drugs is illegal in every state.
