{"id":9141,"date":"2019-10-18T18:18:55","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T18:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=9141"},"modified":"2019-10-18T18:18:55","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T18:18:55","slug":"ghsa-and-uber-eats-team-up-for-cycle-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/ghsa-and-uber-eats-team-up-for-cycle-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"GHSA and Uber Eats team up for cycle safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) has launched a new partnership with Uber Eats to promote road safety to cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>Cyclist deaths were nine percent higher in 2017 than they were in 2008 in the U.S. and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) projects that fatalities will increase by ten percent in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>With many food deliveries being made by cycling to customers, GHSA has teamed up with Uber Eats to develop the following eight critical safety tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ride a bike that fits correctly<\/li>\n<li>Do a 30-second A-B-C safety check before you ride<\/li>\n<li>Be visible day and night<\/li>\n<li>Wear a certified helmet that fits<\/li>\n<li>Keep your delivery secured<\/li>\n<li>Limit distractions<\/li>\n<li>Ride predictably<\/li>\n<li>Watch out for vehicle doors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis public-private partnership is a unique way to build awareness around powerful steps that bicycle riders of all stripes \u2013 not just delivery partners \u2013 can take to help protect themselves when traveling on roadways shared with motor vehicles,\u201d said GHSA Executive Director Jonathan Adkins.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this initiative, we\u2019re also reinforcing that bicyclists have a right to the road and reminding all road users to respect and look out for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) has launched a new partnership with Uber Eats to promote road safety to cyclists.
