{"id":9223,"date":"2019-11-04T18:12:59","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T18:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=9223"},"modified":"2019-11-04T18:12:59","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T18:12:59","slug":"passengers-admit-feeling-uncomfortable-with-family-or-friends-speed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/passengers-admit-feeling-uncomfortable-with-family-or-friends-speed\/","title":{"rendered":"Passengers admit feeling uncomfortable with family or friends\u2019 speed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two-thirds of car passengers have felt uncomfortable with speed when driven by a friend or family member, according to new research.<\/p>\n<p>The study, commissioned by Transport for London (TfL) and carried out by YouGov, also revealed that almost 30 percent of car passengers would feel uncomfortable asking a friend or family member to slow down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems that driving at an unsafe speed has now sadly become socially acceptable and many people simply don&#8217;t think of it as a risk,\u201d said Stuart Reid, TfL\u2019s Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/corporate\/safety-and-security\/road-safety\/vision-zero-for-london\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vision Zero campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would urge drivers to slow down and also encourage people who feel uncomfortable with the speed they&#8217;re being driven at to speak up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Latest statistics show 103 people have died on London\u2019s roads already this year and analysis by TfL of historical casualty figures recorded by the police suggests that speed accounts for 37 percent of all deaths and serious injuries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two-thirds of car passengers have felt uncomfortable with speed when driven by a friend or family member, according to new research.
