Following a State Government decision, Western Australia (WA) Police Force will scrap daily speed camera location updates from 1 January 2020.<\/p>\n
Currently, mobile speed camera locations are published online weekly, in newspapers and broadcast on numerous radio stations, with WA Police Force saying it was happy for drivers to be aware of most speed camera locations to encourage them to slow down and try to prevent a serious or fatal collision.<\/p>\n
However, Minister for Police and Road Safety Michelle Roberts has announced that from January 2020, Western Australia will use a similar model as Victoria, where an approved list of potential camera locations will be published on the WA Police Force website. The decision has been welcomed by the Road Safety Council.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis decision is a great outcome for our community, giving us safer roads and help more people avoid the trauma and pain of serious road crashes,\u201d said Road Safety Council Chairman Iain Cameron.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe majority of the community do not speed, and out of the millions of vehicles monitored by police speed cameras every year, around 1.5 percent will receive infringements.<\/p>\n
