{"id":9452,"date":"2020-01-20T18:32:44","date_gmt":"2020-01-20T18:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=9452"},"modified":"2020-01-20T18:32:44","modified_gmt":"2020-01-20T18:32:44","slug":"limousine-safety-bill-agreed-after-horrific-crashes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/limousine-safety-bill-agreed-after-horrific-crashes\/","title":{"rendered":"Limousine safety bill agreed after \u201chorrific crashes\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a new package of safety measures for limousines drivers in wake of a crash which killed 20 people.<\/p>\n<p>The new three-way agreement with Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie is a 10-point package of safety regulations including: seatbelt requirements, immobilization of defective limousines, increased penalties for illegal U-turns, regular validation of vehicle and driver safety information and new commercial driver license requirements for limousine drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese comprehensive reforms will give authorities much-needed new powers to get dangerous vehicles off the road, weed out bad actors and put into place common sense safety standards that will increase public safety in every corner of New York,\u201d said Governor Cuomo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe horrific crashes that sparked this action shook this state to its very core and we stand with those who lost loved ones in these accidents and worked tirelessly to help prevent future tragedies once and for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In October 2018 a stretch limo lost control at an intersection in Schoharie, New York, killing 17 passengers, the driver and two pedestrians.
