{"id":9885,"date":"2020-07-13T21:56:27","date_gmt":"2020-07-13T21:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=9885"},"modified":"2020-07-13T21:56:27","modified_gmt":"2020-07-13T21:56:27","slug":"dvla-extends-licence-expiry-dates-during-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/dvla-extends-licence-expiry-dates-during-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"DVLA extends licence expiry dates during COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ministers at the Department for Transport have agreed to adopt a temporary measure to assist drivers in complying with the law during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Now, photocard driving licences that expire between 1 February and 31 August 2020 will be automatically extended for a period of 7 months from the date of expiry.<\/p>\n<p>The extension is automatic, so no action needs to be taken. Drivers will be sent a renewal reminder before their 7-month extension ends.<\/p>\n<p>The extension does not apply where a driver\u2019s entitlement to drive is due to expire. If they wish to continue to hold a valid licence, they need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/renew-driving-licence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">renew <\/a>this in the normal way.<\/p>\n<p>Driver records are not being updated automatically with the extension and will continue to show the details currently held on the driving licence.
