This year, with COVID-19 still disrupting many overseas travel plans, the \u201cstaycation\u201d is more popular than ever.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic volumes are likely to be higher than usual over the long weekend, as families make the most of the last long weekend of summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you plan to travel over the August Bank Holiday weekend, here are ten tips from eDriving to help keep you and your families safe while on the road and at your final destination:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Adhere to lockdown regulations, the government\u2019s rules for face coverings, and social distancing guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Check your vehicle thoroughly; especially if it hasn\u2019t been used for a while. Checks should include fluid levels, lights, tyre pressures, brakes, battery and wiper blades. If the vehicle hasn\u2019t moved for some time, it\u2019s recommended that you perform a quick check in the wheel wells and engine bay to make sure nothing is\/has been nesting!<\/li>\n<li>Plan your journey in advance, taking hygiene and sanitation factors into account &#8211; what do you need to carry with you, e.g. hand sanitiser, disinfectant wipes, etc?<\/li>\n<li>Drive defensively \u2013 some drivers may not have been behind the wheel for several weeks, potentially leaving them with \u201crusty\u201d skills. Many will also be driving in unfamiliar areas.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/10\/defensive-driving_uk-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Best Practice Guide: Defensive Driving<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Ensure you\u2019re well-rested before driving.
