Uber is launching senior accounts, designed to help older adults get around.

Uber said the accounts included larger text, fewer buttons, and easy-to-follow screens and allowed loved ones to follow rides in real time and get alerts of any delays.

The senior accounts are part of Uber’s ‘family profiles’ feature and allows friends and family to help set up an account and offer support when needed.

For older adults who prefer to ride independently, Uber has also added ‘simple mode’, which offers the same service but with no family profile required.

Uber said it had created its senior accounts and simple mode in partnership with aging advocates, accessibility experts, and input from older adults themselves to ensure it better meets needs.

“Transportation is one of the biggest barriers to independence as people age,” said Silvia Candamil Neira, Vice President, Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity.

“Solutions like Uber’s senior accounts help break down that barrier by offering a simple and flexible way for older adults to get where they need to go—without always having to rely on others. It’s about dignity, freedom, and staying connected to the people and places that matter most.”

Both features are now available in the US and are also launching in Taiwan, Hong Kong, India (simple mode only), Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Portugal, France and South Africa.
