Local groups in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, are being asked for their ideas to improve road safety in their own communities.

The Government’s Community Road Safety Grants program is offering funding of up to $5,000 for small projects and to $30,000 for more substantial projects.

The scheme has already seen initiatives including a state-wide project to discourage young surfers from texting and driving led by Surfing NSW.

Community groups have until 31 August to submit their ideas in the latest wave of funding.

More information about the program and how to submit an application can be found at: http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/aboutthecentre/communitygrants/
