An online survey of 8,000 motorcyclists is helping VicRoads understand the issues that matter to two-wheeler riders in Victoria, Australia.

The results revealed that the main concerns for riders are gravel, loose materials and oil spills as well as the quality of the pavement. In urban environments, controlling the turns at signalised intersections is also viewed as an important safety factor.

The survey findings will be used to inform upcoming works funded by the motorcycle safety levy and help VicRoads improve motorcycle safety and infrastructure, vehicle, behaviour and equipment across Victoria.

More than three-quarters (77.3 percent) of the respondents said that the motorcycle safety levy should be spent on infrastructure and the remaining on the education, research and development of clothing safety.
