The new Toyota Granvia people mover has become the first model in the segment to be awarded a 5-star safety rating to the latest, most stringent protocols by Australasia’s independent vehicle safety authority, ANCAP.

The Granvia entered the Australian and New Zealand markets this month.

“The Granvia provides a range of well-performing safety technologies and features,” said ANCAP Chief Technical Officer, Mark Terrell. “As a model which will be used to transport families and groups, it is pleasing to see side head-protecting airbags extend to all four seating rows.”

Terrell said child occupant protection had been prioritised with ISOFix and top tether anchorages available for all second and third row seats, and close to full marks were achieved in the frontal impact and side impact tests. However, he said that the fourth seating row is not suitable for the transport of young children as top tether anchorages are not fitted.

“The introduction of the Granvia provides consumers and fleet operators with superior levels of safety in this segment,” he added.
