Every year, the Memorial Day holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer in the United States.

It also marks the beginning of vacation season, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reminding drivers and passengers of the importance of buckling up, every trip, every time!

From May 20 through June 2, about 10,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide will be out on the roads to enforce the annual Click It or Ticket campaign.

According to NHTSA, 10,076 people who were killed in passenger vehicle crashes in 2017 weren’t wearing a seat belt. Fifty-five percent of those fatalities happened at night (6 p.m.–5:59 a.m.).

Law enforcement will take a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement during the Click It or Ticket campaign, writing citations day and night.
