There has been a surge in fatal traffic collisions in Minnesota, despite more people staying at home.

Since March 16 2020, the date that Gov. Tim Walz announced his stay-at-home order, there have been 24 fatal crashes, double the number from 2019. Half were either speed-related or caused by careless/negligent driving.

“Let’s make sure hospital beds are available for those dealing with COVID-19,” stated Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety. “Preventing critical injuries from a crash can help make that happen.”
