Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in cars have a predominantly positive impact on road safety by preventing collisions, new research has shown.
The study revealed in particular Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems have shown significant benefits, reducing crashes by approximately 12 to 13% and 11%, respectively.
The findings are highlighted in a new report from the SWOV Institute for Road Safety Research called Safety effects of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and the journal article Rethinking Advanced Driver Assistance System taxonomies: A framework and inventory of real-world safety performance.
