A company in the East Midlands, UK, has launched a new safety test which can scan motorcycle helmets for hidden damage after a drop.

The Helmet Inspection Company comprises a team of academics and engineers in the field of non-destructive testing, specifically in composite materials.

Using a non-destructive technique, the company offers a scan, which costs £39.99, and which claims to reveal damage and defects beneath the outer surface of the shell which are invisible to the naked eye.

The company advises that if a helmet has experienced an impact in a crash, or it has obvious damage, it should always be replaced.
