A campaign targeting impaired and reckless drivers in New York state between Christmas and New Year’s Day saw more than 129,000 tickets issued.
The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” initiative, ran from Wednesday, December 11, 2024 through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. A total of in 4,264 tickets were issued for impaired driving and 23,339 for speeding.
“Driving infractions unnecessarily put millions of lives at risk, and they are 100 percent preventable,” said Governor Hochul.
“This initiative underscores my commitment to keeping New Yorkers safe and holding reckless and impaired drivers accountable. These traffic enforcement periods are crucial in mitigating risks and helping reduce crashes and saving lives. I want to sincerely thank our law enforcement partners for working tirelessly to protect our communities and ensuring everyone can travel safely.”
