The UN General Assembly has adopted a new resolution on global road safety.

The Resolution reiterates its invitation to Member States and the international community to intensify national, regional and international collaboration, with a view to meeting the ambitious road safety-related targets in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In addition, it endorses the “Stockholm Declaration”, approved at the third Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, held in Stockholm on 19 and 20 February 2020.

The Resolution also proclaims 2021-2030 as the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety, with a goal of reducing road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50 percent. It calls upon Member States to continue action through 2030 on all the road safety-related targets of the Sustainable Development Goals.
