A Dutch project “SIPCAT” has kicked off, looking at the safe interaction of pedestrians and cyclists with automatic transport in a 3D Virtual Reality environment.

This Virtual Reality environment is a copy, or “Digital Twin”, of the Marineterrein Amsterdam Living Lab (MALL). In this way, experiments can take place at the actual living lab in Amsterdam and in the virtual copy in Virtual Reality. The experiments contribute to knowledge development in the field of 1) interaction of pedestrians and cyclists with automated transport and 2) the applicability of Virtual Reality in this type of research.
