A new campaign has been launched to educate West Australians about the Safe System approach to road safety in an effort to reduce deaths and serious injuries from road trauma.

Produced by the Road Safety Commission (RSC) and The Brand Agency, the campaign outlines that under a Safe System it is accepted that road users make mistakes and may have road crashes – but the system should be forgiving, and those crashes should not result in death or serious injury.

The RSC says the Safe System approach is “key” to improving road safety.

The system involves a holistic view of the road transport system and the interactions between the four areas of: road users, roads and roadsides, travel speeds, and safe vehicles.

The Safe System suggests that all four layers of road safety can work together to prevent deaths and serious injuries.
