The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Consumer Reports (CR) has unveiled a list of recommended vehicles for teenagers.

The combination of immaturity and inexperience in teenagers makes driving especially risky and choosing a safe vehicle is key, said the IIHS, which publishes its list of recommended vehicles annually.

This year’s list features 49 used models and 21 new ones, ranging from $6,000 to $19,900.

“We hope this list takes some of the stress out of car shopping by identifying lots of safe, reliable options at reasonable prices.” said IIHS Chief Research Officer David Zuby.

The complete list of vehicles recommended by the IIHS and Consumer Reports can be read on the IIHS website.
