The one billionth UK Uber trip is expected to take place this month, almost a decade after Uber first launched in London.
The first trip was taken in London on 29 June 2012. The rider who takes the billionth trip will win Uber trips for the next ten years, and the driver will win a brand-new EV worth over £30,000.
For its next billion trips Uber is focusing on electric vehicles and plans to make London fully electric by 2025.
“Since launching nearly a decade ago, we have transformed the way that people get from A to B and have provided genuine earnings opportunities for tens of thousands of drivers across the country,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO.
“This is just the beginning, and we now look forward to the next billion trips, and our electric future.”
