This year’s World Day of Remembrance (WDR) for road traffic victims takes place on Sunday November 18.

Commemorated annually, WDR is a day to remember the millions of people killed or injured on roads around the world. It is also a time to consider the families, friends and loved ones of those killed or injured in road traffic collisions.

This year’s theme is based on Pillar 2 of the World Health Organization’s Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety – safer roads and mobility. The aim is to improve the safety and quality of road networks for the benefit of all road users, especially the most vulnerable, through infrastructure assessments and improved planning, design, construction and operation of roads.

WDR is also used to thank the emergency services and reflect on the burden and cost of road traffic collisions on families, communities and countries.

Visit the WDR website for more information, events and how to donate.
