VRM users Transport for London, Iron Mountain and J&J all recognised at 2015 Brake awards
Brake received a record 123 entries for its prestigious road safety awards this year – showcasing outstanding work across the industry. Transport for London, Iron Mountain and Johnson & Johnson were all recognised.
Transport for London (TfL) received the larger fleets category of the Company Driver Safety Award for its work undertaken in collaboration with the Institute of Advanced motorists. The judges praised TfL for its:
- Comprehensive driver safety program using both proactive and reactive root cause analysis, with all incidents and near misses investigated.
- Elimination of grey fleet by providing free access to public transport supported by taxis, pool or hire vehicles when necessary.
- Commitment to improving road safety and maintaining standards, not just with its own staff, but by bringing other businesses and the public into the program.
- Reduction in incidents involving third parties, falling insurance premiums and a 25% drop in vehicle mileages.
TfL was also highly commended in the Safe Vehicles Award.
Iron Mountain (in collaboration with GreenRoad and Zurich) won the Fleet Safety Partnership Award. The judges liked the fact that the program has:
- Reduced incidents by 20%, costs by 34% and insurance premiums by a third over five years.
- Piloted telemetry which led to a 80% reduction in risky manoeuvres and an 80% fall in incidents.
- Turned data into wisdom, showing demonstrable impacts.
Iron Mountain was also highly commended in the Company Driver Safety Award.
Johnson & Johnson was highly commended is the Road Safety in the Community Award for its global road safety leadership, including the Helmets for Kids Program in Vietnam and Safe Schools pilot project in South Africa.
