Global Fleet Champions announces eDriving as 2020 campaign sponsor

eDriving, the global provider of driver risk management programmes, is to sponsor Global Fleet Champions campaign

Launched in February of this year by Brake, the road safety charity, Global Fleet Champions is a not-for-profit and partnership campaign that everyone can join to prevent crashes and pollution caused by vehicles used for work purposes.

Global Fleet Champions is free to join and calls on all organisations that use vehicles for work purposes to prioritise safety and sustainability, through good leadership and by adopting robust policies and procedures to manage driver behaviour, vehicle standards and journey routing. The campaign also calls on governments to regulate and enforce the safe, sustainable operation of vehicles that move goods and people, through licensing and traffic rules, road policing and tougher penalties.

The campaign is underpinned by five pillars that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Decade of Action for Road Safety and its ‘safe systems’ approach to road safety. The five pillars of Global Fleet Champions are driver behaviour; journey routing and modal choice; vehicle procurement and maintenance; incident analysis and intervention; and community outreach. Find out more by visiting Global Fleet Champions and register for free here.

eDriving will be sponsoring the driver behaviour pillar which encourages those responsible for at-work drivers to introduce a road safety culture backed up by good policies, procedures and effective driving training and education to keep both drivers and the public as safe as possible on the roads. eDriving will also be exhibiting at the Global Fleet Champions Summit, a brand new event enabling those working within the industry to share best practice in managing work-related road risk.

The Summit takes place 14-15 October 2020 at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester (UK) and you can register your interest online now here.

Sarah Plumb, senior fleet officer at Brake, the road safety charity said “We are delighted to welcome eDriving as a Global Fleet Champions headline sponsor for 2020. eDriving have been supporters of Brake since the very beginning in 1995 and we are extremely excited to have eDriving on board for next year as we celebrate not only the 25th anniversary of the charity but the first anniversary of Global Fleet Champions.”

Andy Cuerden, managing director, Europe, at eDriving said “Having been involved with Brake since its inception 25 years ago we’re excited to be celebrating this milestone anniversary as headline sponsors of its Global Fleet Champions campaign. At eDriving we help organisations establish safety as a corporate priority and, using our patented driver risk management programme, help to improve the behaviour of at-work drivers. Sponsoring this pillar is a fantastic way for us to work with Brake to ensure that more fleets around the world recognise the importance of improving driver behaviour and have the tools available to them to do so.”

The Global Fleet Champions campaign is a partnership initiative overseen by a standards committee comprising individuals with extensive experience in fleet safety management, either commercially as fleet operators or suppliers, or through academic or NGO work. It is administered by Brake, the road safety charity.

About Brake

Brake is a registered charity campaigning for road safety and sustainable transport and helping victims of road crashes. We work to inspire, inform, engage and enable action for change to achieve Vision Zero.

We have head offices in the UK and New Zealand to enable us to span time zones and communicate and work globally, particularly digitally, through webinars, online tools, and other smart solutions. We also have domestic operations in those countries (we have been working in the UK for more than 20 years) and have contacts and connections around the globe, including in low- and middle-income countries, to inform our work and get action.

Our work is grassroots and partnership-oriented. We believe in working together to save lives and the planet and support the victims of crashes. We work with communities, corporations, other NGOs, enforcement agencies and government representatives.

Brake, as a leading NGO, has more than 20-years’ experience of calling for, and promoting, ‘occupational road risk management’ at organisational and government level in the UK and latterly also in Australasia. We maintain and partner with an ever-growing membership network of occupational road risk managers and practitioners. We disseminate best practice occupational road risk management techniques through webinars and online guidance, and celebrate these techniques with awards.

Road crashes are not accidents; they are devastating and preventable events, not chance mishaps. Calling them accidents undermines work to make roads safer and can cause insult to families whose lives have been torn apart by needless casualties.
