Virtual Risk Manager® receives 2016 Techie Award

eDriving, the largest provider of online driver training and global driver risk management solutions, has announced that its industry-leading Virtual Risk Manager® (VRM) product was recognized with BusinessCar’s ‘2016 Techie Award’ in the Risk Management category. This is one of more than 70 awards for eDriving who, in partnership with its clients and partners, are repeatedly acknowledged for best practices.

Ed Dubens, Executive Vice President of eDriving’s FLEET division, stated: “This exciting recognition for one of our flagship products is not only a testament to measurable and meaningful results for our clients, but salutes the team of innovators behind VRM – who truly understand what it takes to reduce risk, increase fleet efficiencies and make our roads safer for everyone.”

VRM: How It Works & Efficacy

As BusinessCar notes, eDriving was one of the first companies to offer an online portal reflecting a range of functionality, including providing immediate feedback and weekly trend/benchmark (against peers) reporting to drivers and their managers on a series of risk factors such as speeding and harsh cornering, accelerating and braking. This performance data can be integrated with feedback and details of driver incidents, collisions and license check violations. Simultaneously, the technology monitors vehicle health, location and trip details.

To date, more than 1,400 organizations have used the VRM comprehensive Fleet Safety Benchmarking tool. By identifying the most high-risk managers and drivers and providing a framework to reduce the risks, overall, VRM clients have reduced driver injuries, vehicle crashes, fleet insurance and worker compensation costs by 20-40 per cent in 12-18 months.

eDriving’s FLEET division, which supports more than 700,000 fleet drivers registered on Virtual Risk Manager (VRM) in 97 countries, using courses in 45 languages, is emerging as the only company providing a full suite of driver training and risk management solutions on a global scale. This includes a forthcoming closed-loop solution combining telematics, incident history, driver records, interactive contextual online content, and virtual coaching services with licensed instructors to improve driving behavior and lower risk.

Award Specifics

The BusinessCar Techies are the only tech-specific awards in the company car sector and were announced in the August 23 issue of BusinessCar. The Techies recognize manufacturers and companies using innovative technology. Award categories include Risk Management, Telematics, Leasing and Contract Hire, Innovation, Green Technologies, Apps, Remarketing, Fleet Management, and Service Maintenance and Repair.

eDriving Fleet’s Virtual Risk Manager was awarded First Place in the Risk Management category. Specifically, VRM’s Fleet Safety Benchmarking tool was cited for its ability to “enable employers across the public and private sectors to measure their own at-work road-safety performance and cherry-pick ideas to introduce into their business.”

Dr. Will Murray, Director of Research, eDriving FLEET, added: “This award underscores the critical combination of awareness, education, data and technology.  It is great recognition for our partners and customers, who appreciate products like VRM and are committed to benchmarking continuous improvement.”
