The 10th annual Fleet Safety Forum ‘BEST OF THE BEST’ Awards for Excellence, hosted by the Road Safety charity Brake on 14 June 2012 at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, with more than 240 guests, saw recognition for a number of Interactive Driving Systems clients including Pfizer, Nestlé Mexico, Royal Mail, Iron Mountain and Volker Rail.

Best of the Best Award

Among the 10 category winners were:

  • Company Driver Safety Awards: Pfizer.
  • Fleet Safety Partnership Award: Nestlé Mexico and Interactive Driving Systems.
  • Fleet Safety Innovation Award: Royal Mail.
  • Fleet Safety Analysis and Action Award: Royal Mail.
  • Safe Vehicles Award: Iron Mountain Europe.

According to the judges:

‘Nestlé Mexico’s partnership with Interactive Driving Systems has shown how good practice can be effectively implemented anywhere in the world – with positive road safety, financial and other benefits. As well as providing the correct tools based on Virtual Risk Manager and organisational leadership from the centre, understanding local cultures, languages and other support requirements are all vital’.

Best of the Best Award

‘Pfizer was recognised for the global and on-going nature of its program which is already achieving beneficial road safety outcomes in 20+ countries around the globe. Pfizer has also worked tirelessly to benchmark and share good practice with others’.

Best of the Best Award

‘Royal Mail’s dynamic, data-led and continually developing fleet safety program, aiming to achieve an ambitious goal of zero crashes through cultural change, and sharing of good practice with other fleets has led to their crash rate per vehicle reducing by 24% over a two year period, while their fleet grew by 14% to more than 35,000 vehicles’.

The awards, which recognise the achievements of those working in the field of road risk management, also raised more than £30,000 for Brake, helping to fund the charity’s life-saving educational and bereavement support programs.

Julie Townsend, Deputy Chief Executive at Brake, said:

‘The Fleet Safety Forum Awards are now in their 10th year and we are proud that this important event continues to grow, showing the huge amount of commitment to managing road risk within the industry. The Awards are all about recognising hard work, innovation and achievement in fleet safety, and they are a valuable way for us to review and share good practice. Throughout the coming year, we will be disseminating case studies on our winners through the Fleet Safety Forum, to inspire and assist other organisations to do more to drive down crashes and casualties. Brake congratulates all the winners for their work to reduce risk, prevent devastating deaths and injuries, and make our roads safer’.

Ed Dubens, Chief Executive at IDS, said:

‘WOW, what a fantastic achievement for this group of IDS clients. They all share a common vision – a total commitment across leadership to ensuring that all their drivers return home to their loved ones and communities every night after the work day has ended. The team at IDS is very proud to be working alongside all these organisations to support their mission objectives – ZERO CRASHES, INCIDENTS AND INJURIES’.
